(07/21/2013) "These cases are extremely difficult to identify in the first place," said Viktoria Kristiansson, who advises prosecutors for AEquitas, an organization aimed at reducing violence against women.

"Initially, they might appear to be something else – intimate partner violence or another form of abuse, prostitution or rape, a labor violation or a gang situation," she added. "Only after significant time and investigation would law enforcement or other first responders discover that there is actually human trafficking occurring."
